Your one stop pattern for “All Things Jeans.” A pattern to span different styles and silhouettes so that you can use it for years and styles to come.
Do you like a fitted jean? Covered. A looser style? Covered. Leg and hem styles? Easy peasy. How about a choice of rise - low rise, high, or somewhere in between? Got that too!
Pamela has developed your one stop pattern for “All Things Jeans.” A pattern to span different styles and silhouettes so that you can use it for years and styles to come.
Fitting is key when making jeans, and Pamela, of pamelaspatterns.com, partners with the Palmer/Pletsch fitting methods to ensure a great fit. You will get to try on sample jeans to decide what size, style, and fit you want, and what changes need to be made to the pattern prior to cutting the fabric.
Styles change every few years with jeans, so we make a commitment to keep you updated through virtual tutorials on the latest styles and help you achieve them with your basic pattern.
These jeans feature all the iconic details - pockets, yokes, waistband, fly front zip, topstitching, hems, and more. Many of these details offer updated techniques that are fun to learn and execute.
About the 2 Session Workshop (1 day in person, 1 day virtual):
Jeans sewing is detail sewing, and two days for this workshop will not allow you time to complete the jeans. So here is a breakdown of what you will need to do to get the most from your class.
Day One – In Person -this will be accomplished with participants and Pamela in person at Master the Art of Sewing, 3 Acorn St., Providence, RI.
Each participant will try on sample jeans made in various sizes to determine the starting size. Pamela will identify fitting needs, which will lead to pattern adjustments. We will proceed to pattern cutting and adjusting / fabric cutting the jeans front pieces / zipper and pocket construction
Homework – fabric cutting remaining pattern pieces / basting jeans and wear time / prepping waistband, belt loops, and back pockets
Day Two – Virtual (in studio or your own home) jeans fitting and any needed pattern alterations / topstitching and finishing seams / waistband / and whatever time is left for other details
