In this class, we are taking our French Jacket knowledge and muslins up a notch or two. No worries if you don't have a French Jacket muslin - we will be making and fitting them!

This is an opportunity to put your individual mark on the classic timeless jacket brought to us by Coco Chanel, and perhaps even more so, Karl Lagerfeld. It remains a classic style that is as comfortable as a cardigan sweater.

Maybe you want to make a classic French Jacket, or deviate from the standard with the fabric you choose, or the sleeve length and vent; maybe you want a button front, a zip front, a collar, to change the length, or go rogue with your trim? You can customize this jacket in so many ways - it’s up to you! Or, choose to make a classic French Jacket.

IF you have a muslin pattern from a previous French Jacket class, you will have a leg up in this class, and precious time can be spent on the more imaginative aspects of this jacket.

If you will need to create the muslin, you may want to make a more standard classic style. You will be making / fitting a shoulder princess muslin with a 2-3 piece sleeve pattern. The jacket is typically sewn in a boucle fabric using various couture techniques, embellishments, and a hem chain will be added to complete your own “Little French Jacket.”

Many of our readers know that Jane Headley, Master Seamstress, Threads magazine contributor, has a history of instructing higher level seamstress classes, which do not disappoint.

Recommended pattern(s): Vogue 7975 or “Susan Khalje French Jacket” on susankhalje.com

Class capped at 12 participants (8 in person attendees and 4 remote participants). This is the In Person class.
