Welcome, Beginners, to machine sewing! Learn to Sew I and Learn to Sew II are designed with you in mind.Whether you have a machine or not, you will learn to use one. We have 4 brand new machines in our studio, and you may bring your own, as long as it’s in good working order.

In LTSI you will learn the basics of machine use - winding a bobbin, threading, straight stitching, zigzag, etc. In addition to learning to use a machine, you will learn standard methods and techniques using woven fabrics, preparing you to move forward and continue developing your skills as you experience the joy of sewing.

You will learn to insert a zipper into one project, a zippered lined pouch,  and learn about commercial patterns, how to “read” the envelope information, and how to use the pattern pieces, to make a pair of pajama or lounge pants.

At the end of the week 1 class, you will have measured and cut the fabric pieces for the week 2 project, and work to complete it in that session. Weeks 3 and 4 will focus on commercial patterns and making the pants project In addition to learning to use a machine, you will learn standard methods and techniques using woven fabrics, preparing you to move forward and continue developing your skills as you experience the joy of sewing.

You will have access to all instructional materials, including notes and  videos used in classes. Class capped at 4.

Supplies for the first two weeks will be provided, or you may bring your own.
