Starter Quilting Class

$140.00
sold out

Instructor: Meg Goulart

4 weeks

Class Fee: $140

Class Cap: 4 participants

Tuesdays - January 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th @ 5:30 - 8:00PM

Learn all about the basics of quilting in this beginner friendly course. Since this is an introduction you will be making a lap size quilt (which measures about 40” x 40”) to understand the construction. During the first class we will cover basic terminology and decide the layout of your quilt. The following 3 classes will be construction, ie. piecing, basting, quilting and binding.

Supplies needed for this course

  • 5” x 5” charm pack (42 squares)

  • 1.5 yards quilting cotton for backing

  • ½ yard quilting cotton for binding

  • Crib size batting

  • ½ yard border fabric (optional if you want to add a border around the top)

Charm packs are pre-cut fabric squares that are 5”x5”. They are favored by quilters since they’re already cut! You can find them online or at fabric stores. A few shops to look at are, fatquartershop.com, Joann fabrics, The Sew Op

Make sure your fabrics are 100% cotton and it’s best to not pre wash them.

Meg will provide pre-cut 5” white squares for everyone in class.
